And I thought I put some money in my 540...

I think I remember this guy being here on the forum few years back. I forgot his screen name. He's literately 15 minutes from me. I don't know the real story about this car but I'm glad I sold my 540 when I did and got what I always wanted, 03 M5. You start upgrading and then you add all receipts and ouch...

Guess it’s only time and money and how you enjoy spending it... for me it’s odd if I had that kind of time and money I’d put it on something that goes on a track..or might return on the investment...

A disassembled E39 540i without forced induction, $19k...... BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! This must be the old Dirt11 car, and the owner is still delusional.

Looks like it is that car indeed, originally David Chanter's aka "Dirt11" aka "T-trim 540i"...

One of the pix matches this one I think: https://www.bimmerboost.com/showthre...6342#post46342

Fiasco bordering on the hysterically funny actually with so many missteps and screwups and poor choices... Its like an afternoon project just to read Dirt/T-trim part of the story, which is on several different boards... Bimmerboost, M5B, here...

    https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e3...uildstory.html

Then sold to Eric Ballard aka "Ballard540" who looked like he really was gonna make something of it...

    http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...2-Build-thread

Last I remember he was working on super custom bearing caps or something?

Man that motor has been rebuilt with Gucci parts more times than I can keep straight...

I wish he could sell it for stupid money like that, it would be nice if the market could start heading up on these babies.

I doubt he can sell it for $16-17K. It's been on for a month now.
Thad, he should have done this and saved himself a bunch of dough.
Maybe some info here for you and the LRSB too.

Yeah, great, then every jackass owner of an E39 540i6 with 250k miles and a litany of faults will first try to sell on the boards for far beyond market value, if car doesnt sell in a week (they will make sure to tell you this in the board ad), resort to BAT w/ a high reserve, then huff off to Ebay to desperately try to sell with a high buy it now, etc etc.

That's good info Jim, and the only good thing I've found about facebook so far is that Richard Holdener constantly posts up forced induction testing results with LS engines. Those big ole' Borg turbos are tough to fit under the bimmer hood, even with the crazy stuff I've done to my setup, but I am building the LRS to accept an S480 in the trunk (along with the radiator)!

Sounds like you got a lot of plumbing to do on the LRS.
After reading that info I'm wishing a bought a beefier tranny for the '33. Would probably need slicks and another 300lbs over the rear wheels.

    LOL. My favorite CL whacko-boilerplate:

NO LOWBALLERS!!!! LOWBALLERS AND TIME WASTERS WILL BE IGNORED!!!! NO LOOKY-LOO'S OR TIRE-KICKERS!!!

IF YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS, YOU KNOW ITS A COLLECTORS ITEM!!!!!!

THIS ________ IS RARE AND EXTREMELY DESIRABLE AND I KNOW WHAT I HAVE DON'T TRY TO BS ME!

I see that about 100x a week in the musical instrument threads for stuff that's priced literally at double what actual sales are closing at.

I’ve read that listing a few times and can’t really tell all what is included in the sale.
Listing says 900hp car? It’s a zero hp car right now.
It’s an aborted project car with, I think, some good performance parts included?
The $110k figure is completely irrelevant.

Indeed I do have a lot Jim!! Really got started on it yesterday, and I'm hoping to knock out most of it in the next week or so. I'm on a time crunch schedule.

Regarding your setup, you have the basic building blocks of insanity there for sure, so it will be interesting to see what version 2 or 3 of it might be.
