Have a 98 328i which is probably still on stock shocks. I have an e46 M3 to be a fun car, this just the daily but would like it to be a little lower and sportier but still maintain as comfortable a ride as possible.
What is everyone's opinion on what would be the best combo? It is a non sport package if that makes any difference to the suggestion
I've got Eibach prokit springs and dampers for sport suspension, about a 40mm drop, works fine for me. The wheels and tires are from my e46 in the background. 205/50r17s on style 73 wheels.

Bilstein PSS9 or Konis with mild springs, whether standard springs like H&R Sport or less aggressive like OE Sport. Just don’t get Race spec springs. Maybe you can find a used kit.
There are about 31 bushings, mounts, links, and ball joints under the car. At 20 years old, these are the source of the typical crappy ride. Replace them and you will have a supple ride. Leave them alone and add stiffer springs and shocks and you will have an even crappier ride.
Im on koni's with tein springs. Its really stiff but it handles well

Try a set of stock sport springs (green dots I believe) or a set of m3 stock springs. Combine with stock or go with konis. The stock m3/koni combo is the magic carpet ride. Don't forget to replace bushings and ball joints all around.
