Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster here.
I've got a healthy 285,000 mile S52 that's never been rebuilt, has no leaks, and makes no weird noises at all when it runs (this car only gets driven on Sundays around the canyons for 100 miles at a time). I wondering if anybody had experience piecing together a safe, conservative supercharger setup that wouldn't immediately blow up the engine?
I was hoping to get around 300 hp to the wheels, but all the kits online from companies like AA and VF all claim to make 360+ which is overkill for my needs, and seems less cost-efficient than selecting custom parts.
At the end of the day, this is more about the experience of building and driving a supercharged car than it is about making super high amounts of power. Does anyone have recommendations on where to start? Or is this a fool's project and should I start saving up for an engine swap instead?
Thanks everyone
Plenty of high mileage cars with high hp levels.
It really comes down to the health of the motor than the miles on the motor. As long as it's holding good compression (little blowby), and there isn't any bearing damage, I don't see a major issue running as much power as you want. I would strongly suggest you take care of the cooling system first, as that is going to be the biggest enemy in any forced induction project.
VF makes a great kit

As does Active:

At this price point, you could also go for a turbo build, and usually turbos are less stressful on engines than supercharges tend to be.

I should mention as someone who has had a boosted car for sometime... "300whp is all I need", will go out the window after a while.
