hi, recently I bought an x5, my first bmw. after 2 days it started smoking at idle. well , I went to the dealership and was told the valve seals were bad and it would cost about 8k to repair. an independent charged about 4k . still lots of money for a 2010. anyway , got it done and no more smoke. it runs great, but some other issues have come out after that. not too pleased about my purchase but here I am.

I would say valve seals are starting to fail. Try to leave it idling for 15-20 min and than rev it up. Most likely the "puff" will be much more significant
