    Intake Boot (s52 w/ ASC)

    Good morning,

My intake boot is dry rotted and beginning to show some crack. I was wondering if i would be able to use a Silicone 45 or 30 degree angle one and then add a port for the PCV.

Have anyone done this? i know there's name brand ones out there already but they are like over $80 bucks..

Really? "Goo" deal brand. How goo do you think that is?

Don't be cheap or ghetto. Just buy OEM parts and save money in the long run. These last 10 years or more. Uro and other knock off brands are flimsy junk.

I bought one for my parents e36 328 and installed it today. I'll let you know if it is junk when I go to replace it again.....the guy was about to put RTV in between all the ribs....geez, no reason to pay $80 for an OEM part that isn't "critical" like a sensor.....

Well i was asking cause some people say that smoother silicone hose helps...

I was looking at these hoses but they have 30 http://www.siliconeintakes.com/30-silicone-elbow/ and 45 degrees http://www.siliconeintakes.com/turbocharger-part/

If you're going to eek out every fractional horsepower with smoother intake tubes, delete your ASC.

Buy OEM parts or buy high quality performance variants like what Bimmerworld sell. Stock boots are ribbed to strengthen the tube from collapsing under load. If you get too cheap of silicone, you may run into this issue. None of what you linked will work as a significant reduction in ID size is required to go from the ASC to MAF.

AFE does make an ASC to 3.5" MAF elbow. No stock MAF boots though.

No I don't, and I did look a while back.

I assume you're asking in regards to relocating the IAT sensor from an M50 manifold swap. The simpler non-destructive first option is probably to put some extra threads and RTV on the IAT sensor and screw it into the OBD1 sensor port on the M50 manifold. You could also try to cut a small hole into one of the silicone intake boots and plug the sensor in there with some sealant or epoxy, but you could very easily end up with a leak or a junked $100 intake boot. The boot is probably the better place to put the sensor if you can make it work cleanly.

It looks like bimmerworld also sells a modified OBD2 sensor ready and threaded to plug and play into an M50 manifold if you don't want to DIY it:
