    Mystery Part Check

    Hey Guys,

I have my entire center console apart - I'm replacing the whole thing to get rid of some mysterious knob that was installed permanently right in front of the e-brake. When I trace the wires from the knob, they lead to the dash and to a panel to the right of the headlight switch - below the defrost button. What's typically in this location? I've checked RealOEM and I can't find it anywhere. If it's some aftermarket thingamajig, then knowing the blank plate part # would be really handy.

Attaching a photo of what's there now.

You must be referring to the opening right next to the fog light switich. On Cars fitted with the Euro headlight system, there is a up/down aiming switch mounted in this exact location. On cars with the US headlights, a blank cover plate is fitted. As for the part # for this plate, it is a mystery.

Yes - that's the location I'm referring to.

I found this shot of another CSi that had a similar set of lights (albeit with a different number and different arrangement) that made me think it might be some factory bit that's been modified.

I found it. Still don't know if that's a factory security light of some sort or not.

I don't see it in place on other CSi photos I've seen.

That is not factory, or even dealer install - it is part of the flux-capacitor modification of the specific owner.

It was in fact part of the flux capacitor. I just got back from 1957. That was NOT easy. Michael J Fox has my respect.
