I am getting closer to the point of needing to choose some injectors for an S50 with exhaust driven hair dryer and I'm wondering who out there has experience with the 80lb Siemens Deka injectors? There seem to be some complaints about idle...like the minimum pulse width might be....not so minimal, but most of the "kits" seem to use the 60lb injectors with tuned DME. If anyone has any better suggestions that aren't like 9x the price I'm listening.
You need genuine s/d injectors. Huge difference.
We do 60/80s and people try to use Tre-performance injectors all the time to save 100$ and end up with idle problems.

I made the mistake of buying a fuel pump from them once (for a not so important application) and it lasted 4 miles. I sent it back, they said it was fine. I know it wasn't, but I don't think they would ever admit that one of their parts was less than top notch so the warranty is pretty much useless.
Either way, it's not worth saving $100 if it could cause $2k worth of damage. I had no plans of buying anything other than genuine Siemens Deka. On that subject though, it seems like it's not so easy to find a definitive source for information on those injectors. No Siemens website, etc. And, just how can you be sure they're genuine? I saw someone selling 1000cc Siemens Deka injectors, but I don't think that's actually a real product.
I’ve got genuine 60lb/hr Siemens deka injecors and they work great at low duty cycles. As others said make sure they are genuine.

60s will flow about 65 lbs at BMW’s 3.5 bar pressure. Good for 600+ rwhp flowing pump gas (not E85). 80s obviously should do 1/3 more no problem. It makes sense you would lose some resolution with 80s at idle but the cars I have seen with them seem to idle fine to me so I don’t think that should be a decision maker. I have been running 60s for 8 years in the 500-600 rwhp range but plan to move up to 80s in case I want to push the power up a bit (I run 93 pump plus meth and plan to limit power to 700 rwhp).
SD are an ok injector... old technology though and the lower PW areas leave much to be desired on some ECU's (some cope with the SD's better than others).
I would personally suggest Bosch EV14's... plenty of options all the way to 1000cc (unmodified)... Once you start looking to larger injectors that are modified you need to be far more careful.
2nd Gen Ford GT500 injectors are ~635cc @ 3 bar and are usually available for $35-40/ea, you will need connector adapters and some injector hats for them so plan to add about $10-15 per injector for that.

I ran deka 80s on the stock ecu without issue at all.
i have sd80s on an m30 idle is ok but even better on e85.
maybe that means they're not that great but they work and are cheap.
the Bosch EV14 look great and are not close to 9x the price.
they're only 100 bux more a set. Get those.

If you are tuning yourself or using a tuner who you want to pay to tune whatever you bring him, then buy what you want. For most of us using off the shelf tunes, all the hardware is pretty much already determined and any tuning revisions are very limited.

I had SD80's and swapped out for Delphi 120 P/H units. Idle is WAY better than the SD80's. A buddy uses Delphi 120's on his SR and it idles sweet, too. He runs Haltech, I run Autronic. Not sure about his ECU, but mine had the Delphi 120lb in the injector selection list.
Maybe I had dodgy SD80's? Don't know.....
The SD is also single pencil jet, and I mean PENCIL JET! Damn things can shoot a white jet of fuel 2 meters across the shed at crank pulse widths! I was truly shocked at how narrow the jet of fuel was. Is this best for a divided port 24V head? Probably not.

My idle is very nearly as good as it was stock and I could almost balance a coin on the engine. I have S/D 80lb injectors I purchased on ebay. I think they are real but I don't remember if I researched that better when I got them or not, I know I tried to buy genuine ones though. I know that there are better injectors out there but I'm constantly astonished at how well these are working for me on my standalone. I have absolutely no complaints.

It looks like I need to spend some time looking around regarding the suggestions people have made here.
I like the idea of the direct swap that the SD injectors would be. I wouldn't have to run adapters or figure out how to hold that rail harness thing in place since it normally just sits on the injectors. I figured I would be making it easier on myself to just go with the Link pnp for management. The off-the-shelf tuning solutions may be functional, but then I would have to also sort out boost control and figure out where to put an airflow sensor. Both of those negate the cost benefit in my eyes. I like some of the other features that the Link provides as well like being able to run a flex fuel sensor if I want to use E85. Call it future-proofing I suppose.
