Error code 123401/123432; Dealership states that the turbo is gone. Is it safe to drive for a few days until parts come in? The Dealership wants $2357, my personal auto shop who specializes in European vehicles for $1500.00. I'm looking for any advice. It seems that when my car turned 50,000 miles it has been nickel & diming me for $1,000's every year. Why would the turbo burn out at 89,00 miles?

It's not gonna like it to drive it a few days, so long as the turbo doesn't go and self destruct you're fine. Where at are you taking it in MI?
As for why the turbo needs replaced a 89K that can be many factors. Has it always been serviced according to the intervals? Mainly change the oil with correct type on time. Personally I find BMW's intervals a bit long, especially for a hot turbo motor.
Hello and thanks for the response. I service my car at Gallant Auto in Troy Mi. This place is Hands down with European vehicles. I was using the Synthetic Mobile oil, and changed it at 10K miles. As the vehicle has aged I tend to change it more frequently.
I see that there is no horsepower and I don't drive it over 50mph. The turbos don't come in for another 2 days and I need to wait then.
The codes seem as though they are the electric wastegages. Did you buy the turbos or having the shop do it or is $1500 all in?
