Transmission in neutral, car shudder when slowing from 50 to 25, also throttle blip
I have a 2013 xdrive28i 8 speed auto. When driving at highway speed, above 50 MPH, shift to neutral and let it coast or gently apply the brakes. When I reach somewhere between 30-25 MPH, I get a whole car shudder, like all four wheels ran over a small pot hole.
2. I can also reproduce the shudder when blipping the throttle by pushing the pedal deep into the detent, all the way to the floor. The car has to be moving at some speed.
Can anyone else reproduce this?
I suspect it is the transmission decoupler decoupling for a lower speed usage of the torque converter.
OR is it all four brake calipers grabbing in anticipation of an emergency stop.
Either way, I think it is as designed, and not a problem. I find the behavior interesting and unsettling the first time I experienced it.
