Recently I have started getting into more track days with my 335i roughly 3-5 a year with hopes to do more over the next couple years and this is where the predicament starts.
My 2007 335i has had the majority of failure items replaced, HPFP, water pump/thermostat, oil pan gasket, OFHG, carbon cleaning, coils & plugs and only has 67k on it. A good friend of mine has an e46 m3 with 120k on it for sale, but it needs a few fixes such as vanos/vales adjusting, plus its also an SMG.
Is it worth selling my 335i for an e46 m3 with 120k on it? The history is not clean on the m3 since it needed body work when my friend got it. Or should i just rock my car for a few more years then get an e92 m3?
I would keep the 335xi. I got a 2011 335xi with 110k miles on it and it's been in an accident, no issues at all, if u take care of them and maintain it you'll be good. Don't downgrade for an e46 even though it's a m3 . Just wait a year or whatever n save up and buy an e92. You won't be disappointed. Plus u already did most of the work on ur car already it should deff last u long enough.

Definitely, no sense in downgrading to something that also needs repairs, and is higher maintenance.Or should i just rock my car for a few more years then get an e92 m3?
I’d stick with the low mileage newer 335i and make the cooling system mods for a daily driver that sees occasional the occasional driving event. If you want a track car, the M3 has better steering feel and better power modulation but will be more expensive to maintain long term. Depends on your desires for the car and budget for work and mods.
All great reasons to keep the 335i. You always grow up wanting a particular car and for me that was the e46 m3 but as some of you have stated no point in switching to a higher mileage, it needs work, and are more expensive to maintain car when my miles are so low.
Thanks for the input guy, i guess in the grand scheme of things im the occasional track guy with less then 5 days a year.
