Is it considered normal to have backup generators in IL? Here in TX pretty much nobody but insane wannabe survivalists have generators in their homes.

Yes if you want power when it goes out in these types of situations which occurs in the winter sometimes. It is definitely good to have as a backup because when ish hits the fan all the stores end up sold out of them...

Not normal in Charlotte. We might get 1-2 snows per year.

My dad used to run a separate gas powered one and then at one point he got a supersonic one installed that kicks on if the power goes out. Sounds like a giant compressor running...

Might be good to get a small one just to run the furnace and coffee pot.
Back in MA I had a 7KW one and transfer switch that would power 1/2 the house AND garage.
HF and Tractor Supply sell small ones, I just might get one for piece of mind. Haven't really needed on here yet.

Nice wagon you got there. I recently purchased a 2000 528iT with 141k miles for $2,800. I put about $2,200 in maintenance in it so far.

Don't forget to do your rear subframe bushings!

LOL, not my first wagon. I own the tool for the subframe bushings. This is not a long-term project though. Trying to get it decent to sell it.
