    525 Touring feeler

    Hi guys,

After many tears I'm thinking of getting out of the E34 world. Current car is a Black with Parchment 525 touring with 103,000 miles. Everything works, ice cold AC and working SLS. Bilstein sport front shocks with HR springs, Moosehead engineering control arm spherical bearings on Lemfoerder lower control arms and E31 spherical bearing alloy upper control arms, all steering components are new. Has new blower motor and all tailgate functions work. All work done less that 3000 miles ago. Real M Parallel staggered wheels with new Sumitomo tires. Headliner is new as well as sunroof seal and all the drains are clear. All seats are in great shape aside from drivers side armrest. Rear door panels are not good and I'm missing the rear floor mats. Factory euro trim and Hella smileys, new plugs and spark plug boots as well as valve cover gasket and grommets. All filters are fresh and It's ready to drive anywhere. Wondering what the fair market value is these days as most cars I've seen for sale are clapped out high mileage beaters. Thinking of Bring a Trailer maybe if there is no interest here.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Assuming manual and no major issues maybe 2.5-3k. Just my thoughts!

Damn, I'll keep it if that's all its worth! Hagertys values it at $5000 agreed value, so I'll hang on to it for a bit longer. Pretty sure it's got to be one of the nicest ones left and its always been adult owned and never abused.

I wouldn't say my opinion on what I would pay for it is a set value of its worth. It really depends on the buyer. If hagerty values it at that for insurance coverage it doesn't necessarily mean you could sell it to someone for that price. If it is in as good of shape as you describe than 5k might be a reasonable value for it.

I'll post photos later, thinking my best bet may be Bring a Trailer with a reasonable reserve, or hold on to it. Honestly just bored with it and want something else in the garage.

It’s probably close to $5k in value ... it all depends on condition. I was going to buy a 95 auto with 100k for $2500 as it was in extremely nice condition, I considered that a very good deal.

I think it would be worth 5k or more to the right person. It's hard to find a clean one these days. Don't let it go for peanuts...

Looks good I would say the 5k range is fair as long as he interior and mechanicals are as good as the exterior.

Obviously you can ask what you want for it. You have to deal with the everyone-has-an-opinion guys on BAT that just want to look for faults and discount anything that's not a manual trans. Some of us have out grown manual transmissions or have other cars that meet that requirement. There are always the pie in the sky guys like this ebay ad: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-5-SERIE...9bXztM&vxp=mtr I guess you can hope.

That looks exceptionally clean. How's the underside? Rust?

It's an engine swap away from being a 10k car. As is, 5k seems a reasonable starting point. The paint job alone would cost that much to replicate.

The car has zero rust and as far as I know was never driven in the winter since 1998. The guy I bought it from bought it in 1998 and only used for around town stuff and drove his Jeep in the winter. I am the third owner and have had it for about 4 years. I had a manual swapped Touring that I drove for 10 years and my original plan was to swap this one and maybe drop in a S52. I may still do that, but I am doing a light restoration on my Miata that has been neglected for the last 5 years as well as doing a refresh on a friends 240Z so I need the garage space. I also have a Spitfire project that is backburnered if you know what I mean.

This smells a whole lot like a FS post.

Is it a manual or automatic?

I might be interested in buying it. Seriously.
