ok, needed to add coolant...followed correct procedure . set the center knob to heat, set ignition to position 2, heater all the way up, fan on, took out bleeding screw and removed the cap to expansion tank. , added coolant, and waited for bubbles...NOTHING. also noticed no heat coming from vents inside the car. Am I missing something? I've done this before with no problem! would appreciate any suggestions on what to look for?
You need to fill the et to the top with the bleeder screw removed. Coolant should come out of the bleeder hole. Reinstall the bleeder screw and start the engine. Rev it a little (1500) and you should see circulation in the reservoir. Shut it off and remove some coolant from the reservoir to get the level correct then reinstall the cap. No need to turn the ignition on or do anything with the control when you fill. That is for other models with an auxiliary water pump. It does nothing on an e46.
