Hello there,
Apologies if this is one of many, I have searched and not found anything specifically relating to my question!
I've a 2004 E46 330D with The 16x9 Business Stereo (TV etc) with the 9 Speaker Harmon Kardon stereo.
I'm really keen to upgrade this unit so I can use my phone / bluetooth as per my previous E46, which had an AutoPumpkin stereo. However, on their website, it states that this unit might not work with my existing setup. Is this the case? Would I also need to re-route the heater pipe or would this already have been done given the mammoth unit that's in there.
I realise of course there's some fight between the dyanvin people and the pumpkin people. Obviously the Dynavin is far more OEM. But I know the pumpkin and that it works with the wheel controls etc.
All the very best,
Sam
The HK in the HK audio system is in the amps and the speakers. Now, be advised that BMW amps if that era used balanced differential audio input signals. Sending line level (aka RCA) signals to the amp will result in a barely audible sound. Why? Balanced differential audio signals are, when measured on an oscilloscope, several volts peak to peak. Line level signals are less than a volt peak to peak. The solution is to put line level converters between the new head unit and the amp.
