E46 318i 87kw 3.38 to 3.73 or 3.91

Hello.
I have BMW 318i 87 kw 118 Hp differencial 3.38
Differencial 3.64 is Ok. I know it is possieble.
Had someone try differencial 3.73 or 3.91?
One man have 4.44 tryied but total brutal. He drive ab second gear.
Another man tell me, optimal is max 0.5 bigger differencial.
Any ideas?

So on what roads do you plan on driving this car? Anything above the 3.64 and you will not be able to drive faster than 200kph. Also your car comes with a 3.46, not a 3.38 as that belongs in the euro 325i.

As a side note, the higher the number, the faster the motor will rev, so if you only want to spend time in the city, get a 3.91 and have fun with it as 1st gear will pretty much be useless.

Hi.
I ride 10 min on highway with no limit, than a ride 30 min from 100 kph to 120 kph on normal road.
On highway is so like so my max speed 205 kph. I think after 3.91 diff will my max speed be only 180 kph but it is no problem.
So I try diff 3.91 from Bmw X3 and then lets see.
