can I convert a manual top to a fully automatic top on my 1995 bmw convertible 318i? If yes what exactly is all the parts i need?
It can be done but the $$$ completely outweighs the benefits. The convertible operation is tied into the several different modules for which you do not have the wiring. If you wanted to make a simple set up that was not tied in you would need assorted wiring and fuse, switch, convertible module, complete full auto top assembly with locking motors, top motor, tonneau motor and a pair of drive-rods.
By not having the complete system your windows would not automatically lower and you could operate the top at over 3 mph. If you did not correctly tie into your factory trunk lock then you could open the tonneau and the trunk at the same time which results in potential damage to both.
Auto tops are very finicky. They require maintenance and jerry rigging as the straps loose their elasticity.
That being said, I have all the parts to convert if your serious.
Im doing the opposite lol, going from full power to full manual

Actually, from plain-jane auto there's a lot involved in the conversion, and the sourcing of parts, installation and alignment of roof and motors and all wiring for power and sensors are not simple.
from semi-auto it is a simple retrofit as the semi-auto already has the motors for the roof up/down movement. All that is needed is a roof with a frame from a fully-auto car, the switch, and the module. There are only about 3 or 4 extra wires needed for that.
I did the conversion from semi to auto, and after 4 years of operation it began to struggle - I used to have to raise and lower the roof with manual assistance from outside the car, which would've looked ridiculous. New straps and rear shocks would've helped, which I actually had, but never got around to installing. Sold the car almost a year ago.
Anyway, anything is possible - but definitely not easy to do
