Good to see you did the valve covers, they look nice. I need to do mine, probably the same color as the car, if I can decide what that color is going to be.
Can't help you with the shifter, I'm using a 4L65e tranny.

Love this build so far... plan on doing mine when the time is right.. Are you using stock ECU from the truck or a stand alone? Do you know round about what you've spent so far or not keeping track?

Stock ECU, and I got the motor and trans for “free” (traded some labor), mounts and headers for about $1k, about $1500 into the motor for all the parts and machine work, $300 worth of nick nacks, brake lines, prop valve, P/S block off, paint materials, I had the paint laying around I don’t have a price on that, $2400 for the trans, and I’ve got another $1300ish worth of things to buy to button it up, plus running stock ECU with HPTuners so another $400 for the MPVI2 with credits. I’ll round about $7k-7500 total?

Bored and waiting on parts to get delivered... might as well polish up the bellhousing since you maybe might see a little bit of it in the bay.

Duplicolor engine enamel with duplicolor engine gloss clear! I was going to spray it with some BASF stuff we had laying around but this is probably a one-year motor before it goes into something else and gets replaced with bigger power.

Thought about it but I don’t wanna go overboard yet. Bolts, alternator bracket, and some other stuff will be polished/billet and I cleaned but didn’t paint my brake master so it might work out to give it some shine.

On another note... ordered absolutely everything else I need from clutch to accessories to tuner, except for mufflers and a driveshaft (going to get a measurement and call local... I don’t see spending $700+shipping on a vorshlag being anywhere near as cost effective). Two weeks or less til first start maybe!? I’ll build the exhaust after, will be running 2.5 duals all the way back with an x pipe and more than likely two race mufflers on the ass end. Sorry boys but I’m doing duals out the back not the stock single sided dual tip BMW setup. Need a little bit of american muscle look on the outside!

FleetPride can do up a nice driveshaft for around $250-300. $700 is total nonsense. How much power do you plan to have eventually? 2-1/2 might even be overkill. Dual 2-1/4” outflows a single 3” by over 10%.

Duals out the back will look good.
I'm doing the dual tip (M5 look) on each pipe.

2.5 is overkill... but I have a c5 vette dual mid/x pipe setup that with minimal modifications (and welding on some v bands) will perfectly fit up to the headers and clear in the tunnel, all I’ll have to make it the rest out the back. No biggie. And free! And remove 4.8 and add 408 stroker is next winter plans if the car lasts that long hahaha.

Anyway. Shipment 1, got some done. waiting on some other stuff!

Beer gods were good to me!!!! Power steering-less accessory drive complete!
Slave cylinder also in! Using speedway remote bleeder kit and punched out the roll pin and put in -3 AN adapter fitting. Motor and trans will be in tonight!

Looks like your making good progress.
Have you checked the Max RPM of that alternator?
Mine said not to exceed 18K RPM. With my pulley ratios with the engine at 6600 redline the alt would be spinning at 24K RPM.
I bought a bigger diameter alt pulley to slow it down.

Yeah no idea. Gunna run it and hope for the best it has a warranty. Mo pictures. Just for the record the MGW shifter is absolutely insane and I love it.

    Good fit.
I had to pull the heater hose fittings out, tap the holes and install 45° fittings, not enough room to make the bends without kinking the heater hoses.
Bought an adjustable pump outlet for the lower radiator hose too.

Nice big cam idle, love it. Don't cork up that exhaust too much.

Y pipe to 3” strainless all the way back. No mufflers or resonators in the plan. BUT I plan on putting a v band on the back side of the rear diff and having a straight pipe or possibly race muffler depending on the tone I get and a “im gunna drive this to work and don’t wanna wake the kiddo up” muffler that’ll use the v band and same exhaust hanger so I can swap it out in minutes without jacking the car up.

That’s a healthy cam! I heard summit has a new guy redoing their whole cam lineup, I’m curious how this runs. When is it going to the dyno?

Should be road worthy in another week or two so sometime soon after that I’d say. I heard the same and for the price risked it. 8708 and up cams are the new design

Getting there! Remaining list is repaint fuel rail, finish wiring harness, finish cooling system, make an intake, wire in the fan, put the front end together, break in and tune, lots of burnouts.
