    DS1 Restoration help

I picked up a set of ds1 rims recently with a rattle can paint job on them & have started the process of removing the spray. I’m trying to get down to the bare aluminum so I can sand & polish them. The problem I’m having is the oem paint does not want to come off. Would anyone have a recommendation to what products or processe should be used to make this a bit easier? The rims have all been coated with paint remover & scraped twice at this point.

What kind of paint strippers have used so far?

I’ve used one spray that didn’t do much of anything and another that I would describe as a goop or paste called klean strip

I did a similar stripping job on a set of RC041s. I used Jasco which is effective but contains methylene chloride (nasty chemical solvent with noxious fumes). Klean strip is similar. I took precautions including chemical respirator, long sleeves, nitrile gloves, etc. But honestly, you’re better off paying to have them professionally stripped even if you do the paint work DIY. Those chemical strippers are pretty dangerous.

Haven’t had much time to work on them but this is about where they are now:

    This is where they started:

Hopefully I can get some time off to start sanding
