VW to BMW

Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forums!

I am a long time BMW fan but have never owned one, e30,e36 & e46 have always been my favorite.
Love the looks and sound and character they each present.

I've owned VW's for the past 9 years and i believe its time for change.
My current car is 96 GTI VR6, its a very fun car but parts are becoming harder to find and simply RWD has an allure that FWD cant match.

So that being said.
What should I expect in terms of cost, reliability, quality, ease of work/finding parts, interior durability?
What models should I avoid?

So far thanks to this forum I've read that Cooling system is a general issue and it should be done when purchasing a e46.

What else should i be aware of?
Should i simply start with something simpler like a E36 as a first BMW?

Its going to be my Daily fun car, i only drive 9.6 miles per day round trip.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

besides cooling system issues, you may have rear subframe tearing issues.

Buy an e46 zhp. Check out e46 m3s before you do... the reliability of an e46 is really good.
