Finally bringing my 8 back home tomorrow!
It’s been PNO for a lonnng time and needs to be sniffed/smogged to renew. Ideally I’d like to clear out the carbon deposits etc, all new fluids etc before smog
Never been in this situation so thought I’d ask: Drive it home 2 miles? Or?

as long as you don't get caught, yeah...
What you are "supposed" to do is go to the DMV and get a temp permit to take it to the smog station, and pay your fees for registration at the same time. Trouble is, they won't give you a sticker unless you go back after and get it.
If you sneak it to smog and back without getting caught first, it's one stop. Might even be able to do it online, but I'm not sure with the PNO
and DO NOT park it on a public street...

Yes, wise words on not parking on street. I would probably risk it and just drive. Had this when Volvo didn't pass smog and just left in driveway. Other option would be tow it if you have free towing. I vote the former.
What "thumbs up" really means
Hi all,
Thanks for the suggestions. I snuck it home... Some parts are missing so I’ll have to bring it back to the shop. No big deal.
Needs new batteries of course.
And dang does it need an r134 charge! A few years of sitting left zero refrigerant in the system. Man it was hot driving it home uuuugh.
The OBC pixels are kaput now too. The pixels were perfect a couple years ago.
The new rear lights aren’t modded for the euro LMK I have so the OBC says bong. I’ll have to revisit how I redid the wiring.
Of course the Check Engine light is on now but I can’t read the OBC.
My 8 needs a wrenchfest
Just gotta get it sorted to pass smog and I’ll see you guys soon!

The pic looks awesome.
Can't wait to see your progress & welcome back!
You'll have to fix the check engine light before you even think about smog... I might have an obc you can borrow, call me if you need anything
