Wife's e93 through this error message, anyone else experience the same?

Wife's 2011 e93 through this error message. Before this the auxiliary fan seemed to be turning on and off frequently. On this day she said fan was not on. She drove the car 10 more miles home. Coolant level was good.

The car is asking you to have the cooling system checked. Why don't you do so?

Is there a way of checking the electric pump is good or bad? First time dealing with this kind of water pump

If the fan is roaring (running very fast and loud) all the time, the computer is trying to protect the engine from damage by trying to cool the engine as much as possible, perhaps due to a faulty electric pump. With the AC on, the fan should turn on. The engine computer also tests the fan by running it fast for a few seconds (more like 20 secs) after the engine is turned on.

There is a way of purging air pockets out of the cooling system that can be used to check if the pump goes on, however, in my case, even though the pump went on during the test, the force of the coolant stream wasn't that strong and I had to replace it to restore the performance of the cooling system. While you are there, replace the thermostat as well. You can find lots of YouTube videos on how to trigger the test. It is a good idea to remove the fan to help in removing the pump upper bolt and some hoses.

I replaced the thermostat last year while replacing her oil pan gasket. So I know the process of tearing everything out. I had the car running today for about 15-20 min to let it get up to temp and the fan never turned on. I checked the fuse and it was good.

you need to check the codes, but most likely the water pump is failing(it will throw a code)

Only this message. No check engine light and No code to read. Haven't driven the car since this happened. Everything I've been reading looks like the pump.

I replaced the water pump and also a leaking power steering hose ... But everything seems to be working perfect again... Thanks!
