    Knock sensor resistance reading please?

I'm having issues with a knock sensor code, P0237 on bank 1. Before I tear apart the top of the engine to replace it, I'd like to test the resistance. I can take a reading from bank 2 but would like a third reading from somebody else to also compare if somebody could help me out with that. I don't know if the V12 and V8 knock sensors would have the same reading.
Some years ago on my wife's Nissan, I was getting a persistent knock sensor code. The sensor was known to be in a spot you nearly had to yank the engine to get at it. The temporary solution (that was about 10 years lol) was to simply unplug it and put in a resistor so the computer would think the knock sensor was there and fully functioning. I might try that again. As a "temporary" solution of course...

Edit: so I just went to take a reading from bank 2 but can't seem to get one. No matter what range i set it to, it stays at 1. Maybe because it's installed in the car and grounded?

More common for the wiring to get damaged than the sensors themselves to fail.
Perhaps the open circuit you're seeing is a result of that.

I'm not sure what type of reading you are taking but mine was crusty wire insulation at the plug.

The knock sensors are piezo (ceramic) transducers - and you do not get a resistance reading from them - and unfortunately using a resistor won't fool the ECU either!

If I'm not mistaken the sensor would generate a voltage when vibrating at the correct frequency. I think I've heard of people tapping on the sensor and getting a voltage reading. Probably a job for a scope much like the cam and crank sensors. You would still have to pull the intake. The next time I pull my intake I will change mine. Until then I can live with the CEL light on.

By the point you remove all the parts to actually tap on the sensor you might as well change it!

If a resistor worked to fool the ecu of a Nissan, why wouldn't it work for a BMW? I'm thinking a .5V 1 Ohm would do the trick.

You can't fool a BMW. The car even knows when you don't spend $400 on a MAF from BMW

continuing along.... to be sure replacing the sensors would work, what would happen if I just plugged in a new sensor without actually bolting it to the engine block? The code I'm getting is for low signal which would seem to be a wiring issue. I"m not actually getting a knock code. I'm thinking being bolted into the block also grounds it and may be necessary to complete the circuit. But maybe not?.....

It is completely encapsulated and doesn't ground out when bolted down. I would expect an error code if not bolted down - but who knows!
