I've decided it's time soon to get a full bonnet respray done. Too many stone chips in the leading edge to cope with now. This will be a car-on respray and only of the top surface, so I do not need to fully undress the entire panel or remove it from the car. I can deal with removal of the roundel badge easily enough, but I've never looked at how the windscreen washer nozzles are mounted. Has anyone done this before and knows how the nozzles come out without breaking all the no-doubt plastic spring barbs that are all brittle and designed to snap as soon as you dare to look at them?
You have to remove the inner sound absorbing mat from the bonnet. Have done that some months ago on the B12 of my buddy, we had a spare hood which I brought to the paint shop and when this was finished we swopped the hoods. This will help, retrofit instructions heated windshield washers https://bmweba.com/eba-01-29-9-780-819/
what will break from our experience?
#6 expanding rivets, check beforehand, what type you have, that changed over the years https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_1816

the small rubber pieces which hold the sealing in place will rip off when you remove the seal from the hood, here pics https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...l/51711946499/
Impossible to get it off intact with all the rubber nipples, we tried on the spare hood and the original hood, both sealings were not re-usable.
Plus maybe some other plastic wire loom brackets attached to the inside of the bonnet, but that you will see when you remove it.
