I replaced these two hoses 3 years ago when I did water pump and intake manifold gaskets. Had to replace these when I replaced the alternator last week as one had melted through.
Are these a high wear item? I've only put 25K miles on since then.

Seems like the check valves are not working or leaking and letting exhaust heat get into those lines.

Thanks xboss. I figured it was exhaust gasses getting in there somehow but didn't know the system enough yet. I'm guessing those valves are not serviceable are they?
