BMW 840Ci 1995 intermittent no start

Car sometimes starts fine, sometimes it's a hard start, more cranking required. Cam sensors, crank sensors? Tim?

No, its random, cold or hot.

Yes, very likely camshaft sensor - usually accompanied by a few pops and farts when it tries to start. The engine will run with reduced power without the sensor connected for a test but it will always start....

Similar symptoms to fuel pressure failure--regulator on the manifold or the check valve integral to the pump.
