It's location should have clued you in - it's the COG OF DEATH for your transmission.
Are you experiencing issues with the transmission? Any hard UP or DOWN shifts? Slipping? Still have all gears?

Have the engine computer (DME) and the transmission computer (EGS) scanned for codes. Have the transmission ever had its filter and fluid changed? The cog of death could be caused by something as simple as low fluid level. Get it checked now before the transmission implodes.
Been there.. The light was what led to me finding out my torque converter had blown. You should get it checked out ASAP
