What is this part? Can anyone tell me?

I have no idea what it is or what it does.
It looks like an inline fuse holder (orange), but it's not.
It is located on the bracket that holds the three relays (main, fuel pump & O2 sensor heater) on the driver side.
Mine is crumbling to dust and I would like to replace it before it fall completely apart.

Its just a two-prong electrical connector that is supposed to be waterproof. I haven't traced the wires but I expect it is a sensor. Mine have disintegrated as well.

It makes the connection from your airbag sensor to the control unit for the airbag system.

I was unaware that my '89 325i has an air bag. I don't remember any decals or lettering.

It would be around in that time frame - not exactly sure what year they began in the 325i..

Just thinking about it - It may also be the plug that runs to the ABS sensor.

I believe I have 2 orange connectors - if you just have one - and no airbag - it would be ABS.

    It's the ABS sensor connector.

The OE part number for the ABS repair harness is 61 13 1 390 540. The sensor side comes with a new sensor.
