Ok I have a 98 e36 328is. Was just driving down road and car drops to idle. The gas pedal has very little tension and won't work. Now I'm stuck on side of road in Knoxville TN. First, any ideas and second anyone here know where I could tow to to be fixed in the area?
Does it rev normally if you manually open the throttle body from under the hood? Maybe the clip broke that holds the cable to the throttle body arm. It is under the throttle body.

You may be able to get it together enough to get home with a zip tie to hold the cable to the arm. Here is a screenshot from realoem. That should give you an idea of what things could possibly break.
