Hi,
So yesterday I aquired a cheap BMW 530d e39 Touring 1999 that I'd like to restore into driving condition, which shouldn't be too hard except for one problem that I don't quite know where to start.
So the car has been standing still for about half a year (about 2 of those were snow months). The car battery was empty when we tried starting it, but later started without problem by jump starting it.
The problem is that no outside lights at all are working except for flickering brake lights, so no head lights, tail lights, indicator lights, etc. also the break lights may flicker without pressing the break pedal.
I haven't done much troubleshooting yet because It got quite late last night, but right now I'm charging the battery and have checked the fuses in the load area.
I now wonder how I should proceed troubleshooting and what could be the cause? Also is it possible to get the electric schematics for these lights anywhere?
If you need further information I'm happy to tell you.
Thanks in advance!
I'd tackle the battery issue first, and start from there.
I bought a new battery because the old was bad, have also tried putting the car to sleep and then removing the battery terminals for 20+ minutes to reset the car, and still not working. Have also checked so that I get power to the LCM pins and that seems to be okay also.
