Hey guys,
I am a long time member dont usally post. but love the resources this forums has. Anyways I'm getting mixed answers on this so here it goes. I have removed my M52 from my 328is 5 speed. Put in an s52. The tune I was running on the M52 was 4 M3 cams, M50 Manifold, turner shark injector. Is running this software on the M3 motor going to hurt it? Will I notice any performance gains switching the tune to M3 software from turner motorsports. Thanks guys

As the S52 uses the same MAF, same injectors, and in you case same cams, it will probably run quite okay.
Though, the 400cc difference (2.8 versus 3.2) will warrant a new tune.. You'll see gains if you switch to an S52 tune, which takes into account the M50 manifold.
1997 E36 BMW 323i (European) 275k km (171k miles), with following small mods:
- Chip tuned DME (190HP/257Nm); 328i dual pipe exhaust (plug&play); Meyle HD control arms, Bilstein B4 shocks
- Fan delete mod: Stock 92C thermostat, 80/88C temp. switch, 80/20% water/coolant; INPA says temps 100% OK
- Throttle body coolant hose delete mod; Comprehensive ASC Delete option list; Solved: -30 additive adaptation values
I would suggest retuning for the s52. I'm sure it runs just fine with the m52 tune but you're leaving some performance on the table and you should notice some gains after the switch. I swapped an s52 in place of my s50 and it ran great but it was just that little bit better when I bought a TRM chip that was specifically made for the s52 swap and the complementing mods that were already installed.
Have you started it yet? Youll probably need to do some minor retuning anyways to get the EWS aligned for the new motor before it will even run. When I did my S52 swap I got a tuned DME from hakentt on the forums. Its much better than the Conforti Shark ripoff software.
