e39 differentials. Same or different depending on country of manufacture?

I have a Thailand manufactured e39 and I was wondering if anyone knew if the rear differential is the same part for all the manufacturing countries? I have contacted a couple ebay sellers and they did not know.

A second hand price here in Thailand is $700, where as a second hand part in the US is quite a bit less, even after overseas shipping.

Does anyone have a concrete answer as to whether a US e39 differential would work on a Thailand made e39?

You can also verify this simply by using one of the online part databases. Try this one: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E39/

If you pull up the diagram/part nbr...then click on the part nbr INFO button...you'll get a list of all other BMWs that use the same part. If you continue to click for more info...you'll see not only a list of models...but the market that is available, too

Keep in mind shopping "US differentials" there will still be differences... There are tall and short diffs for the 540 for instance. That could offer a mod-opportunity of course, if you want to shorten the rear end vs what you have in there (unless that's already the shortest...) Of course then there's the (best) option to go M5 LSD.
