Hi all,
For the track or other, is there a camera system which also overlays ODB2 information out there which is worthwhile? Maybe one with GPS and/or accelerometer?
I'm reticent to use off-branded cheap stuff because the software and ease-of-use will make or break this, and they'll never update their glitchy software.
You should post this in the Track, AutoX, and Drag Racing forum. Way more track rats in there with plenty of experience.
What's your budget? What do you plan to use it for? Are you just making neato YouTube videos with basic overlays? Or do you want real data analysis with charts and squiggly lines?
The cheapest way to start out is just an iPhone running Track Addict or Harry's Lap Timer. You can add an external GPS receiver to improve accuracy and a bluetooth OBD-II device to increase data inputs.
On the other end of the cost spectrum, you can run the AIM SmartyCam with the AIM SoloDL.
Be sure the OBD scan/logger is decent. I have experienced loss of drive by wire when using the blue tooth and wifi connection to phone types. Stands FrankenCoupe on track when it errors.
