I have a 91 850i its been a wonderful car to own recently changed both batteries now the central locking ,auto drop ,and windows dont function .thought i read somewhere that the positive cable can be the culprit has anyone experienced this i hear a small click when i push the window and door lock buttons . I can get the sunroof to open and almost close when i hold the key in The door lock but nothing else moves.

This problem is often due to the two fuseible links that connect the the RHS battery RED cables (not the main, large battery connection). There are two links, one that is mounted to the chassis in a black housing, and other that looks simply like a sleeved part of the red wire - these can both suffer from hairline fractures, and although they look fine they can cause problems.

How about mine? Everything works, but the trunk doesn't adhere to central locking.
So I have to open it with a key, always.
    Is that weird?

Do you use the emergency trunk unlocking procedure or just turn the key in lock?

    No, the trunk key.
    No idea about emergency.
Also central trunk handle big one has no effort and no effect. I just turn and press the key in to open.

The glovebox lock also locks the trunk release (valet mode). Sometimes though, the switch that is mounted on the back of the glovebox tumbler can become dislodged, which could keep the trunk from opening electrically.

The release is in the trunk on the RHS just behind the CD stacker - it is a two-part device with a join behind the carpet as seen below:

Reviving this thread, i still have no door lock or window function. Closely in inspected the fusible links mentioned and they seem fine . Of note, when i push the central locking button on the drivers door i hear a click. Wondering if i have a bad control module. I had the one for the trunk lock activating itself in cold temps successfully rebuilt by a member on this forum. Would this be a different module?
    thanks for any help
