High RPMs and electrical system performance

I have a dedicated track car with Rogue Engineering under drive pulleys. I am having trouble with a 12v USB connector causing problems with devices and my battery is now spewing acid on a consistent basis. Before I replace the battery, is there anything else I need to consider for the electrical health of my track car? I am curious if sustained high-RPMs are causing a power surge that is messing with the USB connector and damaging the battery?

I must declare that I have no track experience,
    but have electrical knowledge.
From my understanding of vehicle electrical/charging systems,
the system should be protected from overcharging/voltage spikes by the voltage regulator,
as long as the system circuit is properly wired,
and no damaged wiring/shorts is a cause for current surges.

I was sending crazy voltage through my system drifting, my alternator damn near blew up by the time I limped it home. Check up on the voltage being put out at various RPM. Maybe your alternator is just kicking the bucket. I replaced mine, and it solved my issue. The regulator should be able to keep an extra rotation from an underdrive pulley in check.

Okay thank you. That makes sense. I will research out best way to measure output from the voltage regulator. Any tips?
