    FS: outer door handle gaskets E32, E34, E36, Z3 - NEW

The friendly dealer does not sell them as single items, but only the much more expensive door handles complete. The cheaper solution: ONE set of rubber trim for your outer door handle, 1 set = 4 pieces.
These will crack or, over time, it will just wear out. The last thing you want creeping inside your door handle is water & dirt. They are no longer soft like this http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/...e/Photo004.jpg
    It will fit all E32 - 7 series, E34 - 5 series, E36 - 3 series and the Z3 series.

Price: U.S. $ 30.00 per set including shipping by airmail, non-registered, non-trackable ex Japan. In case registered airmail is prefered, plus $5.00. 2 door set $ 18 shipped by airmail, non registered. For registered mail add $5. Delivery time: ex stock
Payment: Paypal.Should the parcel be subjected to import, customs, GST, VAT or sales tax, you are responsible to pay them. Send me a private message in case of interest with your complete shipping address and I will inform the Paypal account.

comment by jamesjtyler dt. 02-24-2012: Just want to let everyone know that Shogun's a great guy to work with. These are the best gaskets on the market. Don't buy the ones from eBay. They're plastic and don't fit properly. I spent an hour try to make them work and threw them out. The one Shogun sells are rubber and install literally in minutes. Thanks Shogun for a great product!

Here another good instruction for installation http://dd.jpn.org/BMW_HP/20060508/index.shtml
by Alan from Australia, E34 owner: Shogun, I received the door handle gaskets today. The rubber is very pliable so it will make a good seal. Thanks mate.

by Marty: I own a 328i coupe and recently changed the rubber trim. There is a slider behind a gasket, but it is very difficult to find and move. If you lift the rubber seal on the top edge of the door (where the window meets the sill just above the latch) you will find a very small gasket. If you look inside this gasket you will see a lever that moves down when you lift the door handle (a curved grey dull colour).
The slider is directly behind this (a few millimetres towards the front) against the outside panel. The slider itself has gold/yellow appearance and is in the shape of an "L" with the bottom of the "L" sticking out from the panel. You can just see the tip of slider. Use a flexible LED torch that you can poke it into the gasket and light up the area. It’s hopeless shining an ordinary torch into the gasket and trying to find it. You can’t look in and shine the torch at the same time. The best way to slide it forward (towards the front of the car) is to use an Allen key. The Allen key allows you to get in behind the handle lever. If you can imagine the slider being an “L” shape and the Allen key being an “L” shape, then the idea is to push the bottom of the Allen key (tip of the “L”) against the tip of the “L” of the slider. Be careful as the locking mechanism is in very close proximity to the slider and you don’t want to damage it. I my case the slider was difficult to move. But a few taps on the Allen key with the handle of a rubber grip screwdriver did the trick. Once you get the trim off and replace the rubber use the Allen key as a hook to pull the slider back. The best thing you can do is to find/make and LED flexible torch/flashlight that will poke through the gasket. Once you do this and get a glimpse of the slider you will see how it all works. There is no need to pull the door apart.I hope this helps you guys. It’s difficult to explain and even more difficult to photograph (even though I tried). The Slider tip is just in front of the door handle lever. It’s between a small piece of painted sheet metal on the inside of the outer panel (just visible through the gasket) and the door handle lever.

Ok Guys.. I received the gaskets.. they look good. I'm decently mechanically inclined and I cannot figure out how to get this 'slider' off. Where the heck is it? I thought I found it but gave it a few knocks without any luck..

    Any help?

    look here http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3531.JPG http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3532.JPG
Take a small, flat-blade screwdriver and pry open the inner cover on the side of the door.
http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3533.JPG Then remove the outer ring. http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3535.JPG
Here you can see the end of the metal clip inside the door that holds the handle in place. Stick the tip of your screwdriver in there and push toward the front of the car (approximately 1" is all it takes).
    http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3541.JPG http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3543.JPG
The door handle can now be pulled away from the door. The rubber gasket just peels off of the back of the handle. http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/davidc/IMG_3544.JPG The old gasket (top) and the new gasket (below).

Reverse the steps to install the new rubber seals. A small L-shaped hex wrench or a box-end wrench work well to pull the metal clip back into place inside the door.
and here some pics from the japanese side http://infinitier.ddo.jp/e32/page/ma...inte_50702.htm
and here a disassembled pair so you can see the th mechanism and the sliders from inside http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/door...orbrackets.jpg
and here where the green arrow points http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/door...croswitch.html pics are from E34 and E32.

on the E36 they should be under a cover http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...4&postcount=12 http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...5&postcount=11

I did mine yesterday. Look through the hole and find the small sheet metal piece in there. Put the paint can opener at the top and just off the edge of this. Push towards the outside of the door and forward. Move down a little each time and try again. You will hit it. It isn't visible in my 328ic. Took me 31 days for the drivers side and 3 minutes for the passenger side. When mine released you could see the outside panel release from the door.

My door handle gaskets arrived today for my 1990 735i. Installation was very easy and they look great. And as a bonus, I now have some cool Japanese postage for my stamp collection.

Just wanted to report back that the gaskets arrived, according to my wife. I'm traveling until Memorial Day, but over video chat my wife showed me what showed up. They look perfect and I see others saying install is a breeze.

Many thanks to Shogun. Can't wait to install these in a week and a half when I get home.

Just got mine today, didn't take more than 20 minutes to do all four, even with some pretty thorough cleaning of both parts of the handle and the body underneath.

Many thanks to shogun, he had already shipped them out within a few hours of receiving payment, and they really are excellent quality -- perfect fitment. Definitely recommended over the cracked and now-useless gaskets so many of us probably have.

EDIT: As far as shipping goes, I sent him payment the evening of May 11 my time (morning of May 12 in Japan), and they were delivered today (May 18)....Japan to metro Atlanta GA in under 7 full days.

Awesome fit Shogun. First took some time to actually see the locking bar but the other 3 took a few minutes each!

Was going to take a picture of the old but there were none! All disintegrated with only minor bits still hanging on. Makes door closure no longer rattly sounds good.

    Thanks

Now onto the lights issue .......... :/
