2003 330i: How to test Sunroof cassette

Hello all. Sorry if this has already been answered as I currently don't have access to a computer, and I keep getting an error when trying to search from my phone.

Nevertheless, is it possible to test the Sunroof cassette for an E46 while it's outside of the car? I ask because my cassette broke a while back and I was lucky to find and pull one in a local junkyard today for $20.

So, although I don't visually see any issues with it with a quick eye inspection, it be cool if it were possible to hand crank it forwards/backwards to ensure that it slides with out any issues before I drop the headliner on my own car. If it's not possible, I'm still gonna try to install it, but was just trying to test it before hand.

For anyone that wants to know how to test the sunroof while outside of the car, I found no help online. So, I just ended up hooking up the switch straight to a battery and I guess that was that. Luckily the cassette I pulled worked fine, but I guess you could do the same procedure while in the junkyard to avoid pulling a bad sunroof (just updating in case it helps someone that searches).
