    Windshield gaskets and trim

In preparation for paint I’m searching up all the rubber I need and been ok in finding most. I can get a front windshield gasket for about 250. Rear is nla. A few years ago I was looking into this with my other car and the glass guy mentioned he could make up a gasket. I didn’t pursue it because they were easy to get at the Time and were about 100 bucks. Not any more.

Any body have experience with getting the glass company or somebody else to make up a gasket? Can’t seem to find good info on it.

That seems unlikely since, if memory serves, the profile of the rubber is not the same all the way around.

Universal windshield extruded molding rubber stock is used for cosmetic molding, not for a gasket set windshield like these cars. The glass guy most likely was not familiar w/ the car and saw the rubber molding and assumed it was cosmetic, and that the windshield was urethane set, which it's not. If you look up aftermarket glass molding supply companies like GGG you can see what sort of universal extruded rubber is available to glass pros. I have done some windshield work and do not ever recall seeing extruded rubber to make a windshield gasket like you'd need.

Ok that makes sense. Now what to do when one is NLA?

Good used is probably your only option. If yours is torn up, try to find a better used one. The rubber these were made out of holds up well.
