Rare Good News Overheat Post

Reading this forum and others, you get the impression that if your aluminum block E46 overheats, the head is warped for sure. My son's 2000 323i sprung a leak at the upper radiator connection and it blew steam and the temp light came on. We were not sure how far he drove it before noticing the light, so we feared the worse. 1 week after replacing the radiator and a bunch of other plastic parts, it runs fine, there's no white smoke and the oil looks normal.

Just wait? Are you saying the head doesn't warp immediately? I have not heard of delayed effects, please explain. It's a week later now, with the car being driven daily 40 miles and it's still going strong with no symptoms.

Don't worry about it. Keep driving it. Check coolant and oil every so often.

What I meant is the head gasket could be damaged and it will eventually leak. At least you have time to find a replacement engine.
