    side topic:

there's many threads on "re-bedding" and i've had good success doing this process with what felt like warped rotors.

Sitting a light or stop on the brake with really hot rotors will do it...
it's depositing material onto the rotor (essentially cooking it on) and this then develops into a spot that feels like a warp.

    Dr. Google it

^^^^ agreed. And for whatever reason, some rotor/pad combos seem more prone to that happening than others. I have had cars that would do that frm time to time and a quick 'burn off' hard braking sesh would smooth everything out for a month or so...

So kind of like an Italian tune-up but for breaks :-)

I remember doing sparkplugs on my old mans 1968 Oldsmobile Delta 98, that bad boy was registered with the coast guard, it was hug. That thing had a 455 ci. Block.

I take it back, it was a 1970, butthole brown it was..

Exactly like this beast. Was one of the first cars I learned to drive in. One time we were towing a Chevy S-10. The differential looked up on us, so we dragged it to the side of the road so we could return with a trailer for it. That 455 was a beast!!

And I can remember driving it like this, it would squeal like a dinosaur!

One of my first 'critical' DIY jobs was doing the timing chain on an old van I had from my Dad w/ a 318. It had skipped so far the engine was sucking air in the tailpipe and puking it out the carb. Non-interference obv. It was a massive rush when it actually started right up for me on the first try... I'd never had anything taken apart that far before except motorcycles which somehow felt 'safer'.... I guess just cuz I understood them more and there were less parts...

You'll be fine with those. I ended up going the Brembo rotors/pads route on both front and rear. Still under 500 miles, but oh, what a difference. During the install, I replaced the drivers side caliper and line with a rebuilt caliper and new soft line. I'm sure that helped almost as much as the new rotors and pads....

Do you recall where the Brembo rotors where made? My Brembo fronts were from Italy, the rears from Mexico. My only issue with them was Brembo does not paint the hats on them, so they rusted badly after a few months. I ended up masking them and spraying painting them with a couple coats of zinc primer, then silver paint. I later replaced the Brembo fronts with a pad replacement, switching to Zimmerman, but the Brembo rears are still on the car, and with probably 150k miles, and no sign of reaching the wear limit...BUT, I have noticed some minor cracks developing, so replacement is in my future for those old Brembos.

Huh. Faux brembos? The brembinos I've been getting all come in nice fancy boxes and have had very nicely painted hats ... Looks like epoxy or powder or something.
