Lol. In this day and age, $220 for a cable and basic flash software is pretty ludicrous. Given that there’s free flashing software for MSS50/2/4, MS4x, etc etc. and that software to easily flash even these ME7 DMEs are available widely on innerwebz sites for cheap.
But to be fair, it SHOULD be more like $350 plus ship for mail-in flash, and without the IAT kit. Which is pretty reasonable / “going rate” for this kind of NA tune. That’s assuming TMS will do a mail in that is... They list that as an option for some cars but the E39 “configurator” doesn’t seem to allow it...The old “sharktune” hardware flasher was about that price range, so seems to me “$350 all in” should be the price point.
Marketing tip for Turner/ECS - the IAT relo kit actually looks tidy and nice PnP, I like it... but the numbers on the bottom are confusing. To a typical quick-scan-not-deep-reader (aka all millennial) it looks like “wut, OEM has more whp!?!?” You should put a “-“ sign in front of all the whp numbers to clarify its LESS whp LOST at temp.

Well. Depends on actual price. If your point is “real 17 or marketing 17”, then sure... we all discount the adverts.... tho.... These N/A type tunes can be a real driveability experience plus beyond the pure “whp”. I even felt the (semi-lame)shark tune was worth it for the better throttle profiles.
If it’s a real 17whp you’re sniffing at... that’s ridiculous. Extra juice doesn’t come easy on the M6x normally... it ain’t a muricunz V8 where 50hp bolt-ons are easy... if this is real real 17 then that’s GOOD for a no mods M6x tune. I heard somebody had this tune but don’t think I ever got a read on his long term opinion... maybe I’ll reach out.

They need to take into account that most of our cars are not stock and if you want the best output I highly recommend going FBO and getting it dyno tuned on 93 by a bmw pro. The most I believe you can shave of your 1/4 mile time with a FBO 540i is 0.75-1.00 second from stock form with all power mods and by also ditching the spare and scuba tanks.
My mods made my car 0.412 seconds faster in the quarter mile and trap speed gain of 3.89 mph
