Hi Guys!
New to the forum here. So I recently imported a 2001 E46 touring with 33,000 original kilometers. The thing is mint and drives like its brand new.
So....fast forward 1 week; I'm driving down the highway at 100 km/h (60 MPH) and I see my battery light on. Then I notice the temp gauge is quickly rising. I immediately pull over and get her towed home. (there was a little bit of steam, and a whole bunch of coolant under the hood)
So after a little investigation at home, I notice the serpentine belt was intact, but not on the tracks. I think the leak is coming from the water pump, as coolant looks like it came from the housing, and the water pump is loose. (forgive me if some of this is not technical lingo...I'm just starting out with the whole "be my own mechanic" thing)
So here is my issue. I have a M43TU engine. They did not make an M43 engine here in Canada that year. I'm hoping one of you could tell me if any E46 water pump will fit in my car? Will a water pump for a V6 E46 fit in my I4 M43? I've done some pretty extensive research but cant figure it out, or find a water pump for the 318i in canada.
Thanks!
Gabe

Sorry, where's my manners?
Welcome aboard, newbie!!
You sir, are a gentleman, and a scholar!
First, BMW has never made a V6 engine. It makes inline 6 cylinder engines, the best in the world. As noted above, go tonwww.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s VIN. Hit enter and bookmark page. Click on the engine icon. Findvthe water pump. Click on the part #. That’ll show you what BMWs use the same water pump.

You might well be able to order a part locally. However, if you can't, go to schmiedmann.com (Dutch site) - they can ship to USA/CA.
