Picked up an M3 recently that suffered a money shift casualty.
Transmission mounts feels like jello, and the passenger side engine mount had collapsed. Both are most likely original to the car. They should be treated as maintenance items.

Might be better to upload directly to bimmerforum since imgur seems to be blocked for hotlinking here.
Haven't been on here in awhile. Fixed, thanks.

Gah.
That motor is gone... I assume you bought it to do a motor swap or something along those lines?
But yeah, definitely inspect your mounts regularly and replace at any sign of excess wear or movement. The OEM motor mounts are oil filled and if they start to leak they will collapse like a popped balloon, dropping that side of the motor/trans by an inch or two and allowing it to bounce all over under throttle inputs. Transmission mounts take literally 5 minutes to replace after jacking up the car, and motor mounts don't take too much longer once you hoist the engine up with a transverse support.

Yes. 87k mileage motor going in. Doing the typical weld in reinforcements and engine maintenance items while the motor is out.
This is my 5th e36, and all of them have had collapsed or very soft transmission mounts.
New OE motor mounts will be going back in, along with E21 320i transmission mounts. PN: 23711109173
