I got a new steering wheel and transferred the airbag to it but forgot to connect the connector below the column. Duh.
The airbag light came on, so I powered off for 20 minutes and connected it correctly. The light is still on after connecting power.
Is there something in the memory I need to clear?
Or do I need to chase the connectors on the new steering wheel to assure contacts are being made?
I will also have to call the local BMW dealer to get the radio code for my tape deck with disc changer radio... Grrrr.
You need a BMW specific scan tool/software to reset.
You can have the dealer reset it when they give you the radio code, or buy a reset tool, or get a laptop and a cable and download and learn to use INPA software. No amount of disconnecting the battery will help.

Thanks all. I guess there's worse ways of messing up, but $26 to buy a scanner to fix a boneheaded mistake is cheap but it's still a boneheaded mistake.
