Hey guys, Need a little help here. My neighbor has a 07 328XI. Doesn't start intermittently. They had a starter replaced and it went a few days and no start. I checked the alt output and it wasn't charging. Checked all control units for faults and none in the DME. A lot of low voltage faults and other unrelated faults. Cleared everything and a little later I started it and it was charging. So now I'm thinking alt or voltage regulator. Car has about 127k on it. I know the E46's had a ton of voltage reg problems and I just ordered one for this car. Any input would be appreciated.
I'd guess that it's the alternator but other members should chime in with their expertise. If it does end up being a faulty alternator; take a look at the link below for the replacement procedure.

OK gang. After a lot of research and watching some You Tube videos I believe the issue is resolved. The engine ground strap was green and falling apart. Replaced it with a NAPA braided ground cable and it is starting fine and charging fine. Here is a link to the You Tube video that helped me. Hope this helps others.
