    After-market Radiator Long/Short Plug Confusion

Working on a 2006 325xi w/ Automatic transmission. Replacing factory radiator with after-market unit which uses two plugs on bottom (like factory), except these simply screw into threaded bungs. They provide one each long and short plugs, but it appears to me that I need two long plugs, no? If I put the short plug in the right (USA passenger) side, no coolant can flow through the nearby small fitting (the one that goes to the transmission cooler).

The supplier is telling me to put the short plug in the right side, but I don't believe that is correct. Anyone have any input?
