Did you contact Matt? I would ask him first. The only difference between your dad's car and Matt's is the parts he put on and the deco kit
jm
Yeah I sent him a message, but I don't wanna bug anyone. At this point, I know I need more data to truly locate my dad's old car, but It would be nice to know what he thinks about the cool similarities.
Sure would be wild if Matt's car was your dad's car.
jm
Well, I think it would've been kinda cool if they were one and the same, but just based on the blue cloth interior you're describing, they're probably not a match. Mine didn't come with blue fabric seats and/or door panels and it's unlikely the prior owner would've swapped interiors. Of course I could be wrong - but...
It seem a lot of people have a misconception about what Hartge did and didn't offered for the E21. Most people don't realize Hartge advertised and sold parts and upgrades for the E21 in every Hartge catalog until 1989-90'ish. The Hartge wheels on my car are tru 3-piece, 11 spoke 16" Hartge/OZ wheels that fit the E21 without any spacers. These do fit the early E30's, but because they're not a staggered set, they don't look as cool.
Hey Matt: Thanks for the reply, that clears up one question and it is sort-of- good, because that means there is another hartge e21 in the states somewhere.
Hope to build my tribute car soon....

Well not so fast... after doing a little more research, it turns out that these two cars are actually the same. That's both good and bad - oood in that he can stop his decades of searching, bad in that there's still only one H3.
Well, that is going to save the op a lot of time. How did you find out that they are both the same car?
thanks,
jm
Well that was easy. Thanks for clearing that up. Good to know it is your car.

Wow, I just wanna say thanks for all the help. This made my decade! I've been pinching myself all day, it's very surreal. I'm thrilled just knowing the my dad's car still exists, but I would love to see it in person again.... and if Matt ever decides to sell it someday, I hope to have a chance at bringing it home. Thanks again guys!!

Well, it was probably easy for him to find because there is only one H3 to be found. Although it's a crying shame about what happened to the original interior - that would've been worth some $$$. It runs great, but sadly I don't get out and drive it much anymore and so it's become a covered garage fixture.
Yes, that interior would have been nice to save, but the one in the car now is pretty nice too.
Sounds like your car gets to sit like my h26 gets to sit in the garage. Nice cars, but at least for me, not going
to work as a daily driver.

So did you guys swap out the dash pod for the Zender(?) one? If so do you still have that other one? I'd love to pull some measurements and save myself some time on for the printable model I'm making

The other one that sits in the map pocket. Maybe it's just mobile but I'm not finding that photo anymore...luckily I took a copy because I thought it was funny someone else had the same solution three decades ago.

Those Recaro seats are so cool, I uploaded that picture to an external site, not sure why it went away. But I figured out how to upload to the site, so here you go, I found a few more examples too.
I like the ones that are orange. Would go so nice with an inka 2002.

I wonder what type of side skirts were on this car...and I wish I had them.
jm
I think I narrowed it down to BBS or Zender
