BMW X5 4.8is losing throttle power

    I have a 2005 X5 4.8is V8 and runs sweet
But when driving I keep loosing all throttle power
And it’s like a limp mode but no codes or lights on or logged.
If I stop the car turn it off it is all good again and if I keep driving it will come good sometimes aswell
I have changed a number of things
    Throttle body
    Air flow meter
    Excelerator peddle
    Fuel pump
    Crank angle sensor
    And it’s still the same.
    Can someone please help me

    Simon

    Welcome to the forum, Simon.

You need to quit throwing parts at it, because you don't know what parts to throw.

Step one is diagnosis. Do you have an actual BMW specific diagnostic scan tool which can talk to all the car's computers? It's VERY likely there's a code somewhere to point the way, even if no lights illuminate, but it will require a BMW specific tool to read them.

Then, there's always a fuel pressure test, while the symptom is manifesting. For this, you connect a fuel pressure gauge, and clip it under a windshield wiper, and drive until the symptom occurs....then look at the gauge.

At this point I would recommend you go to a good independent BMW shop.

Gotta agree with Chris, you need a BMW scan tool. On the E53 you have a few choices; full-blown computer set up with INPA/NCS/etc, phone app based software such as deepOBD/Carly/Carista/etc, or a handheld BMW specific scan tool like the Schwaben Professional BMW Scan Tool (LINK).

    Check your drivetrain
How’s your flex disk ?(guibo) how’s the driveshaft itself ? How’s the transmission fluid?
