    Grand brake issue

Removed 3 bolts on hand brake to help install console. Unfortunately I did not tighten bolts while console was not installed. I only managed to tighten 1 bolt. The other 2 bolts are not lining up with the holes so bolts can be tighten. Does console need to be removed to resolve issue?

The hand brake still works but now a light reading "parking brake" is displayed on instrument panel. Can that light be removed?

I loosen the hand brake adjustment nuts in order to remove the console, need to get the hand brake lever sticking up lots. Then adjust them once the console is back into place.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.

    Unfortunately I didn't do that.

I sure would not want to be without that light warning of incompletely released parking brake. Maybe these items on parking brake adjustment will help.

According to the factory service manual you don't need to remove the center console to remove the parking brake lever. It wouldn't be the first time that it's wrong though.

replaced worn hand brake assembly without removing console. Taking bolts out was a breeze, re-install required 1/4" drive set, u-joint socket and some patience. It can be done.

Today got that annoying brake light on the instrument panel removed. Found a wire (see pic) that became disconnected AFTER I had removed the console. Now the hand brake handle is properly bolted down by all 3 bolts. Now you can relax Randy.
