330i xdrive shopping, question about wheel sizes

I'm considering 2 lightly used 2018 330i xdrives. One has the standard 17" wheels, the other the optional 18" wheels. Because larger wheels and tires mean more unsprung weight, should I as someone prone to autocrossing, go for the 17" 330i?

The 18"s come with 225/45 tires while the 17"s have 225/50 tires, so a bit more rubber between the wheel and the pothole it is banging through

Might as well ask, too: Anyone try autocrossing their 320i or 330i xdrive?

All things being equal the 17" tires will ride better, and 18" wheels will handle better. If you are going to autocross you will like the 18" wheels.
