Acceleration/deceleration stutter with slightly abrupt throttle motion

I also feel it pretty consistently when under load (e.g., accelerating or going up a hill) at around 2700-2800 RPM.

The car is a 2004 530i (E60) with a six-speed manual transmission and just over 100K miles. The shifting/clutch feels very smooth, and the stutters don't feel nearly so noticeable during most accelerations when lower or higher than the above-stated RPM range. So, the two (related or unrelated) issues are a stutter when pulling through 2700-2800 RPM and a quick stutter when abruptly applying a little positive or negative throttle.

Up until now my uneducated guess was that it might be something with the VANOS, so I was going to pull the solenoids and clean them. But after reading about the flex disk (guibo) and other nearby stuff, I'm wondering if it might be that. So, rather than being a car hypochondriac, I thought I would ask a larger audience.

Thoughts? And if I'm not adequately describing the symptoms, please ask clarifying questions.

    My Cars
    2004 BMW 525I
I have a 2004 525i with an automatic transmission that does sort of the same thing, my issue happens only sometimes when accelerating from a stop or from a lower speed, what will happen is that while accelerating it will get a lil studder where the rpms wi;ll bounce up n down by around 500-700 and it feels sort of like my front tires are going over a group of lil speed bumps. until I either let off the pedal and they reapply or push down more when the issue starts it will only slowly work its way thru, it seems like once the car reaches a either a certain speed or just fast enough to shift the problem will stop on its own. the car only has 120k mile on it an is in excellent condition other than this issue it only needs pads the rear pad wear sensor but thsts about it, I just changed the air filter and cleaned the maf sensor which helped the issue some but it still does it time to time, one thing I noticed is that it will do it more when I get lower on gas, if I am above half a tank it will rarly do it but if I get down under a qt tank it will seem to do it more often. from what I am told the person I bought it from took it in around 115k for the 100k tune up because it was misfiring in two of the cyclinders the shop replaced the spark plus which stopped the misfire but did nothing to help this lil studder
